Dupe Alert! Dior Amber Diamond

The latest craze in the beauty world is Dior's Shimmer Powder in Amber Diamond, a beautiful peach highlighter that adds that J-Lo glow!

Well, I want that glow too! But I'm not ready to shell out a whopping $42 for a product I only sometimes use (I don't wear highlighters on a daily basis). But ladies and gentlemen, I think I've found a dupe that--can you believe it--might even top Amber Diamond.

It's Marcelle's Multi-Colour Face Powder in Luminous Veil, which recently launched as part of their new Spring 2011 line.

As you can see, it has very similar tones, but I would say that Amber Diamond is slightly deeper in the pan. On the skin though, both swatch exactly the same:

I tried out Amber Diamond at Sephora and what I noticed is that although the powder is soft and finely-milled, I could still find visible chunks of glitter. This is something I couldn't detect with Marcelle's Luminous Veil both in the swatch above and on my face; it also did not appear ashy on my NC45 skintone. At $17 CDN, the only downside to this product is that it is only available in Canada.

Head over to your local Shoppers Drug Mart or Rexall and grab this before it's gone!

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage - Best Concealer Ever?

Hi everyone! Welcome to the blog! I'm new to beauty blogging but I'm certainly not new to makeup! As a South Asian woman, I feel like there is a gaping hole in the blogosphere about beauty that is relevant to darker Indian skin tones (I'm an NC 44-45 for reference), and because I love reading other beauty blogs I wanted to start one too!

First up on the chopping block is this concealer, Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage Concealer in SC-6 (the darkest shade).

This concealer is unlike any I've every tried before. I bought it on recommendation from Sandra's blog, "15 steps and then a beauty" (5andrablogs.blogspot.com) (one of my faves!).

I love the fact that this is a duo concealer as it means I can customize my shade. The lighter colour is perfect for under eye circles because its salmon tone cancels the purple/blue circles that plagues many Indian women.

The texture is very dry but what makes this great is that it has superb coverage and will not budge!! I've definitely worn this concealer on its own without foundation and I find it has a beautiful natural finish. I find the best way to apply it is by warming it up with your fingers (clean of course).

Although at $26 it is pricey, the amount of product and the quality definitely justifies the price! Try this out and let me know what you think!
